How to apply?
You’ll need to prepare the following documents:
🟢 NRIC (You need to be at least 30 years old at the point of application)
🟢 Driving licence
3/3A, with at least 1 year of driving experience
🟢 Passport size photo
Front-facing, with white background
🟢 Education certificates
At least D7 on GCE O/N Levels / L3 in English on the WPL / any local diploma/degree
Steps to be licensed
Follow these simple steps to get your vocational license in just 6-8 weeks!
1️⃣ Submit your application
Submit your application online via GoBusiness Licensing portal. Login via Singpass and search for “Taxi Driver Vocational Licence” or “Private Hire Car Driver's Vocational Licence”.
2️⃣ Complete your medical exam
As soon as your application is processed, you’ll receive an approval-to-attend course (ATC) letter. Then, you’ll need to go for a medical checkup and chest x-ray.
3️⃣ Attend your course
Once you have been certified medically fit, you can book your PDVL/TDVL course.
4️⃣ Take a test
Upon completing your course, you will be assigned a date to take your test.

A: TDVL Course: 25 hours to complete (16 hours of classroom trainingand 9 self-study hours).
PDVL Course: 1 full day - 10 hours to complete (8 hours of classroom training and 2 self-study hours).
Q: How long does it take to complete my TDVL / PDVL application?
A: Your application may take anything between 2–4 weeks to process, medical check-up 1–2 weeks, and another week to complete both the PDVL course and test.
In total, the process takes anything between 6–8 weeks.
Q: Where do I book a PDVL course?
A: Upon being certified medically fit, you can sign up for your TDVL / PDVL course.
Q: Can I retake the test if I fail it the first time round?
Yes! Each retake costs $10.70 for the test fee, and $5.35 for each test paper.
Q: How long does my TDVL / PDVL last for?
A: Your licence is valid for 3 years.
Q: Where can I get my medical check-up done?
A: You can have your medical exam done in any registered clinic. Please note that you’ll have to use the LTA’s medical examination form and also get a chest x-ray done.
