Measures include cash support for drivers and free delivery on GoFood orders at selected locations in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi

Ho Chi Minh City, June 02, 2021: Today, Gojek, Southeast Asia’s leading mobile on-demand services platform, announced two new initiatives to support its driver and merchant partners and consumers amid heightened COVID-19 restrictions in Vietnam. The first will provide drivers partners with cash support of up to VND 200,000 per day should they be directly impacted by Covid-19, as well as additional incentives for GoFood orders. The second will eliminate delivery fees on all GoFood orders at merchant partners in key districts in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, as part of the campaign "Freeship zone: As long as the shop is open, Gojek will provide freeship."

These latest initiatives are part of Gojek's ongoing efforts to support its partners and consumers during this challenging time.

Caring for driver-partners

Cash support of VND200,000 per day will be provided to Top-tier drivers (those who achieve 95% performa on average and 4.96/5 star ratings) within 21 days of a positive COVID-19 test or receipt of a quarantine order from a government agency. All other driver partners are eligible to receive cash payments of VND100,000 per day under the same conditions.

In addition, all driver partners who achieve a 7-day average performa of above 85% on GoFood orders will receive an additional incentive of VND100,000 per day in Hanoi, and VND150,000 in Ho Chi Minh City.

These policies are designed to give Gojek’s driver partners greater peace of mind as they continue to provide vital services for communities, as well as to ensure a sufficient supply of drivers to meet users’ increasing demand for food and package delivery.

Caring for merchants and consumers

As many restaurants and eateries are forced to close down or restrict dine-in services, and reliance on digital services continues to grow, Gojek has launched a campaign - "Freeship zone: As long as the shop is open, Gojek will provide freeship" - to make life a little easier for its users. The first phase of the campaign includes a slew of new discounts for consumers, as well as free delivery fees (capped at VND15,000) on all GoFood orders valued at VND40,000 or more at merchant partners located in Binh Thanh, Tan Binh District, District 1, 3, and 10 in Ho Chi Minh City, and Cau Giay, Dong Da, and Hai Ba Trung Districts in Hanoi.

As these “Freeship Zones” cover densely populated areas where eateries and restaurants are abundant, this campaign aims to remove consumers’ hesitation when they need to place multiple orders. This in turn will help to stimulate demand, bring more consumers and additional income earning opportunities to Gojek merchants.

Duc Phung, Gojek Vietnam General Manager,
said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has left no one unaffected. It has put lives in uncertainty and created an economic downturn like no other. Protecting the health and livelihood of everyone in the Gojek ecosystem is our top priority. We’re committed to continuing to find new ways to help our merchant partners survive and grow, our driver partners earn a stable income and our consumers meet their daily needs affordably. We are in this together.”

Gojek connects more than 200,000 motorbike driver-partners and tens of thousands of merchants to millions of consumers in Vietnam. Since the beginning of 2021, thousands of new merchants have joined the GoFood platform - one of the country’s leading food delivery services offering more than a million dishes on-demand.
