Singapore / 08 Jun 2021

Company effort to help people commute safely and conveniently to receive their vaccination will continue through 31 August

SINGAPORE 8 June 2021 - Gojek has today announced that, as part of a campaign to provide free or discounted rides to and from vaccination sites for all users in Singapore, more than 62,000 trips were completed between 27 May - 3 June, involving more than  5,500 Gojek driver partners.

With an aim to support the national fight against the pandemic, on 27 May, every Gojek user automatically received a pair of ride vouchers (2 x $15), which are available for use through 31 August this year.

Ride data also revealed the top five destination areas for campaign-related trips during 27 May - 3 June were Tampines, Woodlands, Bukit Merah, Bedok and Sengkang. The highest trip volumes were on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with the highest volumes between noon and 3pm on Thursdays. Those looking to schedule vaccine appointments may want to take into consideration peak-times and destinations when choosing the location, date and time of their booking.

Lien Choong Luen, General Manager of Gojek Singapore, says: “The response to this campaign has been tremendous  - we are delighted to see so many of our riders across Singapore utilising these vouchers and taking up their vaccination appointments. Vaccination is an important layer of protection in our fight against the pandemic as Singapore steps up its efforts to test, trace and vaccinate people faster and more widely. We want to do our part to remove barriers to access and encourage more people to get vaccinated. As the COVID-19 situation evolves, we will continue to look at new initiatives to enhance the safety of everyone in our ecosystem and keep Singapore moving.”

He added: “This campaign would not be possible without our driver partners. We are incredibly proud that more than 5,500 of our drivers have rallied behind this initiative so far, providing safe and convenient means of transportation to vaccination appointments.”

With each voucher, riders can book a free or highly subsidised ride for pick-up or drop-off at their appointed vaccination centre, polyclinic or clinic. The vouchers can be used on any day in the week from 8am to 8pm. New users who download the Gojek app and sign up with the platform between 27 May and 31 August will also receive the 2 vouchers in their Gojek accounts, in addition to a discount voucher usually extended to all new users.
