Gojek users in Vietnam now can use credit and debit cards to pay for transport and food delivery services

Ho Chi Minh City, October 21, 2021 – Gojek, Southeast Asia’s leading mobile on-demand services platform, today announced the launch of a cashless payment feature on its app in Vietnam. Users now have the option of using Visa, Mastercard and JCB credit or debit cards to pay for transport and online food delivery services on the Gojek app.

With the integration of international credit and debit cards on the app, users in Vietnam can enjoy a seamless and convenient experience when transacting on the Gojek platform. The launch is part of Gojek’s response to user feedback requesting more payment options on the app, especially with the rising shift to contactless and digital payments during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is also in line with the Vietnamese government’s efforts to move towards a cashless society.

Duc Phung, General Manager of Gojek Vietnam said, “Cashless payments is one of the most important launches for Gojek Vietnam this year. Our users have expressed their desire for digital payment options, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic accelerating the shift to cashless. We’re pleased to now offer users an option that makes paying for our services faster and easier – all while ensuring their safety. Looking ahead, we will continue to expand our digital payment options, including launching an e-wallet in the near future, so that millions of Vietnamese people can enjoy the benefits of the digital economy.”

With a strong commitment to safety and security, Gojek ensures that it complies with the State Bank of Vietnam’s regulations and the highest level of PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), which is a set of requirements governed by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council to ensure the security of card data. In addition, Gojek does not store users’ international card number information and instead uses a special sequence of characters encoded from the card number to increase data security. Gojek’s security system can also identify unusual transactions, block such transactions immediately and alert users.

As part of the launch, Gojek is rolling out a slew of new promotions to encourage digital transactions. From now till 31 Dec 2021, Gojek users who use credit or debit cards to pay for their GoFood order can enjoy a discount of between VND30,000 to VND40,000 on their next GoFood order.

To pay for transport and food delivery services on the Gojek app with credit and debit cards, users simply have to go to the “My Profile” icon on the upper right side of the Gojek app, select “Payment Method”, and add their cards to the list of payment methods.

More information regarding cashless payments promotions is available in the Gojek app, which is available for download via iOS and Android.
